x402

x402 payments for AI agents. Pay per request, inside your limits.

x402 is an open standard that uses the HTTP status 402 Payment Required so a site can charge per request and a client can pay on the spot. With Lotvs, your agent pays x402 sites from its own account. With Lotvs Pay, your API gets paid by agents.

Your agent pays

What happens when an agent calls pay_x402

  1. 1

    It asks without paying

Lotvs requests the URL first. If the site does not ask to be paid, its answer comes back and nothing is paid.

  2. 2

    The site states its price

A site that charges answers 402 with its price. Lotvs pays prices in USDC on Solana, with x402's exact scheme; other networks are refused.

  3. 3

    Your rules are checked

The price must be at most the max_usdc the agent set, and within your limit per payment and per 24 hours.

  4. 4

    It pays once

Lotvs pays the exact price once and returns the site's response with the transaction.

  5. 5

    It is on the record

The payment shows in your activity with the site and the agent's note. x402 payments are final.

Questions

Straight answers

What is x402?

An open standard for paying per request over HTTP. A server answers 402 Payment Required with its price, the client pays, and the server returns the resource. It suits APIs that agents call many times for small amounts.

Which currency and network do Lotvs agents pay x402 in?

USDC on Solana. A site that asks for something else is not paid.

Can an agent overpay?

No. It sets max_usdc for each request, and the price must also fit your limit per payment and per 24 hours. A higher price is refused before anything is paid.

Can x402 payments be refunded?

No. x402 has no refunds, and payments are final once made.

How do I charge agents for my API?

Use Lotvs Pay: install @lotvs/pay, put a price on the route and set the address to be paid. See pay.lotvs.ai.

Important

x402 payments are final and have no refunds. Your agents' money is kept apart from your own account, with each agent's share in Lotvs's records. The AI never holds the money or an address: it can only ask, and only what passes your rules goes through.
